Just to lend my support, I agree with all that has been said. We do not
need or want any furthur development, otherwise we have completely lost all
that Lytham St Annes stands for.

I live on Heyhouses and often go for a walk near the fields where the
Queensway housing development is proposed. It is wonderful to look out to
fields and enjoy the closeness of the countryside. My main concern is that
the area does not have the infastructure to cope with the additional
housing and families. If this development was to go ahead, it needs other
services including in the infastructure such as health centres and schools.
Careful planning and careful consideration needs to be given from both
sides.

Having very local knowledge of Lytham and being the instigator of the
pathway through Witch Wood I am appalled by the latest proposals to
surround Lytham and St Annes with nondescript developments.
These proposals by one contractor give the impression of Santa Claus
visiting the area to spread goodwill to an impoverished community by giving
a present of unusable land to the borough.
A deer park under the airport flight path, a grant of land for a school
again directly under the wings of air craft landing at Blackpool.
A road link to a road already subscribed to by Cypress point development
which has been delayed by Lancashire County for the last fifteen years.
This same developer has already coned the planning department to provide
housing with no facilities at Lytham so called Quays.
We can all remember the boats and waterways together with shopping and
entertainment to be provided in the original development's what do we
have,multistory flats and housing only.
Let us look at the big picture. Do we want more development on green field
land and a spiral of nondescript housing spread on the flood plane? or an
area of waterside walks with dramatic views over the Ribble Estuary.

My familiy (Boardmans) have lived around Lytham for over 100 years. My folks emigated to the States in '67. How awful, couldn't believe what I was reading. Good luck to you guys in your fight against greedy developers. Gotta tell my folks about this one.

As former music teacher of Lawrence House School (now gone, but certainly not forgotten!), I was horrified on a recent visit to Lytham, to see how quickly some of these new developments were springing up around the place. One only has to look at the sad demise of Lawrence House, for many years, a wonderful school, very much part of life on the Fylde. Property development was one of the main reasons Lawrence House collapsed in the early 1990's. Which company was at the heart of the problem?..................... to say nothing of one or two dodgy dealers too!

Good luck to "Defend Lytham".

I may only be 13 but i understand about all of this. Lythams is a quaint, beautiful town that deserves to be kept in the condidtion it was made. Lytham council are trying to make lytham extra modren, Especially with the new subway on the high street. Lytham aint Florida. Its a palce were people live, not a place were we ride rollercoasters.

I was more than horrified on a recent visit to Lytham to realise that this beautiful, sleepy little town has fallen victim to the madness of modernisation. Surely the developers have to be joking; their proposals are simply ludicrous and totally out of character with the quintessence of the place.
While I would argue that something needs to be done with the land in question, this horrific Disney Land/bad'Dubaiesc' creation is simply not the answer and I would have imagined that even the most stupid and greedy property developers would acknowledge that the long term affects will destroy Lytham and eventually Lytham Quays.
Lytham thrives entirely on its charm and atmosphere, an enormous part of which is attributed to the many small, family run buisnesses. If these are pushed out, I dread to imagine the calibre and intelligence of the people who would chose to live in such a sterile, intemperant and,in my opinion, hostile, environment such as the one I believe Lytham Quays presents. That is of course, after the crime rate has inevitably increased, standards of education drop, the present property declines in value and the properties on Lytham quays are no longer an appealing purchase for those it aims to attract (all of which are inevitable with a rise in population).
The vision of Cypress Point still haunts me and I fear that those responsible for town planning are simply victims of capitalistic amnesia; forgetting the importance of understanding that there are places where these things are well and good and can, no doubt aide an inoperative community and there are those places (such as LYTHAM)where such actions are simply prostituting the enchanting.
IF YOU WANT A WONDERLAND< GO ON VACATION, LEAVE LYTHAM ALONE!!!

I was born and raised in Lytham St Annes and, though I left to make my way elsewhere in the world in 1975, I still visit a few times a year and always appreciate the great things about the area that I used to take so much for granted.

I have to say that, at first, I found the proposals appealing given the present dereliction of the site but I was appalled on closer inspection by the density of the development and I worry about the adverse effect on Lytham and the wider area of such a large population influx. Are these people really serious about ice rinks and carousels? Is Disney involved? And why do we need a French market? This is Lancashire for heaven's sake.

I really hope that your well organised campaign is successful and that some moral support from this lapsed sand-grown local boy will help.

Meant to sign this ages ago....sorry!

Was holidaying in Blackpool, spend a nice day walking through Lytham St Annes, and noticed all the signs. Thanks to the lovely lady working at the Ribble discovery centre at Fairhaven lake, i found out what it was all about.

Lytham and St Annes are beautiful examples of tranquil and traditional English countryside small towns......to allow such a development would be an absolute disgrace! How much more of England's beautiful countryside do they want to wipe out?

Good luck with your fight!
