As a dyed-in-the-wool sandgrown'un despite being exiled in North Buckinghamshire I feel more than qualified to add in my two pennyworth. My Mum and Dad (Whitecoats Drive) keep me informed of goings on in Lytham and I'm there regularly. I was horrified when I first learned of the proposed developments some time ago and couldn't believe what I was reading. I have witnessed over many years the systematic desecration of our beautiful historic town by greedy developers who as we all know are there to make a profit (nothing wrong with that) but care very little about the history of the places they develop. Witness the destruction of the old station in 1965 (before we entered a more enlightened age er...well) and most recently the destruction by developers of the old road bridge into Lytham on Park View Road...and countless other examples. I don't think any of us will be against progress and planned and sympathetic development but my first thought on seeing the glossy brochure I was reminded of Disneyland - ugh! Anyway, I'd better cease ranting and say that you have my full support and I'll do anything I can to help stop this, or at least seriously modify it. Hawe seems to have a ready answer for any question, lets ask him some that he can't answer...

Get the man behing Kensington Developments stopped before he turns Leafy Lytham into a council house white trash development. All his plans for living life like a permanent holiday are promises he could never fulfill and never has any intention to fulfill his promises are like pie crusts made to be broken. If he gets his way Lytham will be another area in the North West that decent people will no longer want to holiday in or live in. We will end up with another Blackpool cheap and overcrowded and dirty.

We thoroughly support the aims of Defend Lytham, keep up the good work .
It's a shame that this sort of protest could'nt have been made when acres of woodland were destroyed to create Hall Park/South Park.

I was really chuffed to see that so many people had turned out for the meeting the other day. For the first time in donkey’s years there was genuine feeling of community. It was encouraging to know that there are still so many residents out there who feel proud and passionate about their town and are prepared to stand up for it.

Over the years we have quietly sat back and watched while dozens of small developments, in both St Annes and Lytham, have been slowly changing the fabric of our town. Some have genuinely enhanced the area, while others have permanently erased some of the character and charm.
In my opinion, the problem lies with the town planners. Surely they are responsible for who builds what where? The developers are simply business people who are bound to seize any opportunity to make a profit; I’m sure Kensington would be more than happy to convert Lytham Windmill into ten luxury apartments if planning permission was granted?

The Lytham Quays proposal is taking things way too far, and we must say NO! before our lovely little town is irreparably damaged forever.

A huge thank you to everyone for their continued, fantastic level of support! I check this site every day and can assure you my post bag has also been quite heavy!! I am making careful notes on all suggestions. We are continuing to build this organisation and I am confident that together, we who love Lytham, it's character and it's heritage can DEFEND it!

Tremendous turn for the first meeting let's just hope we can win. Having stood in Lytham Square on Saturday, I was overwhelmed at the number of people queuing up to sign the petition. Keep up the good work Alison and the rest of the crew.

Unfortunately I was away for the meeting last Thursday.I was delighted to hear how well the meeting was supported. I'm sure it will encourage more people to realise that they are not alone in their concerns about the proposed "Lytham Quays" and negative impact this would almost certainly have on this beautiful town.
I'll be at the next meeting !
