Lytham Quays I

The Original Lytham Quays Application was WITHDRAWN!

A victory for people power!

The Lytham Quays application was withdrawn by Kensington on Thursday 17th November 2005.

Alison Jack, Chairman of Defend Lytham issued the following statement.

“Yesterday was a great day for the people of Lytham and the area, who have spoken with a single and united voice. Defend Lytham is simply the mouthpiece for the thousands of people who have put up posters, car stickers, delivered, written letters, attended meetings and social functions and supported in all ways possible. Be under no illusion, Kensington would not have withdrawn their application without this great wave of people power.

This has been coupled with the Council Officers finding an incredible 14 cogent reasons to say “No”. I also hope that the local Councillors, given their enlarged post bags, would have backed the officers and said “No” had they been given the opportunity.

We must now move forward and look as a community for acceptable uses of the site. Equally, we must not take “our eye of the ball!” It could be argued that huge sums of money have been spent on a land bank, not only in Lytham but the surrounding area, and all of us together must remain vigilant, united and of one mind as we move forward.”
